We Said Good-bye to our dear friend Jack Reustle of Chipper Dove
(Your listening to Dreamer
written by Jack Reustle and Ruben Morales, and performed by Chipper Dove)
(The Original) Chipper Dove Left to Right: Michael Evans, Jack Reustle, Craig Dragotta and Freddy Locke
Jack was an accomplished
drummer. He had been playing and writing songs for many years with other bands. He had done a few local recording projects
in his career as a musician as well. Jack later formed his own band called “The Recruits” back in the early 90’s. Band members
had changed and by 1997 and the sound of the Recruits was becoming defined.
The band completed a recording project
at “Pearl Studios” in Jersey City where they laid down four new tracks written and composed by Jack. With the changing sound
of the band, the need for a fresh new name was at hand. Jack’s “Recruits” took the name “Lynex” featuring members Freddy Locke,
singer and front man, Craig Dragotta on guitar, Michael Evans on bass and backing vocals and Jack on drums and backing vocals
as well. They started billing themselves under the new name. One of their songs titled “When the Weekend Come” was sent to
New York’s WPLJ by bass guitarist Michael Evans and was later aired on “WPLJ’s Scott and Todd Morning Show.”
During
the spring and summer of 1998, Jack got the band into “Big Blue Meenie Studios” to record their first CD for “Black Pumpkin
Distro” titled “Power’s On”. The songs from the “Pearl Studio” sessions were re-recorded along with eight new tunes the boys
had written. With new music and tighter new sounds, the band felt that they needed a more defined name. The name “Chipper
Dove” was introduced by Freddy Locke. He had gotten the name from John Irving’s novel “Hotel New Hampshire”.
Now
known as Chipper Dove,
The band completed their CD. Selections from the new CD were later aired on NJ’s WDHA on their “Home Grown” feature show.
Jack got his band to this point and continued to push on. Striving to get them known.
“Chipper
Dove” has played in venues in the NY and NJ area such as CBGB’s, Love Sexy, Connections, Obsessions, The Cove, The Stone
Pony and The Rat Pack to name a few.
Members of Chipper
Dove have included Jack Reustle, Michael Evans, Craig Dragotta, Fred Locke, Nick Scarano, Ruben Morales, Joe Grano, Dave
Bandinelli, Rene Avila, and Hector. Although the members have changed over the years with new opportunities and personal
projects, what had remained the steady foundation was Jack Reustle, pushing for perfection. He will be missed.
Jack
died in his home in Pennsylvania at approximately 3am Friday, January 11th, from Sleep Apnea. Our thoughts and prayers will
always remain with his wife Liz, children, Jack Jr. and Diana, and all of his family. Jack was 48 years old. – SmellyEgg.com
